Whitney Cox is a philologist and historian of classical and medieval India, specializing in the literary and intellectual histories of Sanskrit and Tamil.  His current projects include literary translations in both languages and a study of the social theory implicit in several works of Sanskrit philosophy.  He is also interested in the history of cultural interactions across the Bay of Bengal, particularly in Java.
