This talk explores the shift from manuscript to print of Rumi’s Masnavi in South Asia in the nineteenth century. By paying attention to the textual, paratextual and material features of these printed Masnavis, we find that by this time the form of the printed Masnavi reflects the long history of intense engagement with and love for the work in the region.
